Colin Lygren
Colin is a reporter, anchor and producer for State of Events. He has been with the show since the Fall of 2010 but he got his start at reporting at a much earlier date. He is also an Assignment Editor at KTVU Channel 2 News.
Colin is a self proclaimed “news junkie” and has been from a young age. As a teen he watched the ‘TODAY show’ every morning and the 11pm news every night. His interest in news lead him down a path to a career in journalism.
As a sophomore at Christian Brothers high school in Sacramento, California, Colin joined KBFT, a student run television program. Here he learned the basics of television production. Within a few months, Colin was doing both weather and general assignment reports for KBFT’s daily newscast. Colin’s fell in love with reporting and decided to pursue it as a career at San Francisco State.
Under the direction of Marty Gonzalez, Colin perfected his reporting skills during the Spring of 2010 before joining the State of Events team. After joining State of Events in the Fall of 2010 Colin reported on topics ranging from a new San Francisco parking program to the cleanliness of BART seats. Colin is also a leading male anchor at State of Events as well as a producer. One of his many other talents is in graphic design. Colin created the entire graphics template for State of Events.
Colin’s tenure at State of Events will come to a close at the end of the Spring 2011 term. He plans to take up a job reporting in a local market. Eventually, he would like to have a career reporting in the Bay Area.
