Planned Parenthood Funding Erodes

Marsha Wescott reports on the erosion of governmental support for Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood is a place where low income women can feel safe and get the health care, birth control and family planning information that they need. But some governmental officials don’t feel the need to make a financial impact on a organization that may subsidize abortions.

Many supporters of Planned Parenthood are upset at the close to $70 million cut that may happen in July.  According to Planned Parenthood supporter Elizabeth Alexander “That was the place you go when you don’t want your parents to know you are having sex.” There is more financial loss to the organizations educational programs and general female health care.

Planned Parenthood started receiving government aid under The Public Health Act Title X in the 1970’s along with other smaller clinics. Those smaller clinics will also have funding cut if the proposed budget passes the Senate.

If you would like to stand with Planned Parenthood visit plannedparenthoodaction.org or for more information on Planned Parenthood’s services visit plannedparenthood.org.
